The Tour de Richmond project was one of the highlights during my student teaching career. It was a project initiated by me while searching for opportunities and platforms for the band students to perform. The plan was to bring the secondary bands to have a concert tour to three different elementary schools around the neighbourhood to promote the music program in the secondary school. My supervisor, Christian Naso, at Hugh Boyd Secondary was very supportive of my idea. After a few months of planning and negotiating with the admins, the tour finally happened on the last day of my student teaching career. The project was a success and I hope that many elementary students will continue taking band or jazz lessons when they move on to secondary schools.
